The Suns and Lakers were forming the most beautiful bond on the basketball court. Heart, Desire, Passion and Fury... all on display for 6 incredible games.
The build-up towards game 7 was remarkable. Phoenix wins game 6 without it's best defender, to bring things home... where they would blow the HELL out of the Lakers.
From opening tip, it wasn't pretty.
Kobe had 5 points, as the Suns doubled up the Lake-lack-of-Show, 30-15 after 1.
Mr.Soon-to-be-#24 then tried to make it interesting by scoring 18 in the second... but the Laker deficit remained at 15 (60-45 at the break).
The Suns kept pressuring, while LA seemed to lose interest in a hurry. When I stopped caring, Kobe had taken only 3 shots in the third... and by the final buzzer, Bryant scored only 1 point in the 2nd half. (it turns out he did only take 3 shots after intermission)
Dude scored 81 on the Raptors in a MEANINGLESS game... when they're playing the season, he can only pick up 24???
The Suns shot 61%, compared to LA's 35%.
Phil Jackson lost an opening round series for the first time in 15 attempts... while Phoenix became just the 8th team to come back from a 3-1 series deficit to take it.
This game had all the makings for a fantastic climax... but instead, the Lakers went limp.

Man i was sooooo dissapointed even though i was cheering for the suns the whole way kobe didn't even show up for the second half ; he seemed to be deferring to his teamates in the 2nd half probably so he can tell the press he got them the shots they didnt make them not his fault kinda thing. I might be flying out to LA to watch game 3 between the suns and clips will keep you posted
you know, something happened to kobe. he gave up before he even started to play.
something happened. that was NOT kobe bryant. kobe is a lethal killer, a tiger on the loose, destroying people.
in that game, he was a pussycat. sulking around. he gave up.
i think phil told him to pass more, and maybe lamar was like "yeah, dumbass", and then sasha vuskajoaalkdjvic said "yeah, yeah, give it to me!", and that pushed kobe over the edge, and so he went out there and got them all shots, and then, at the end, when they lost by 25, he could say, "hey, i could've scored 25 in my fucking sleep, bitches, i'm kobe bryant, and that's THE SUNS DEFENSE we're talking about". damn!
he could have OWNED them, but phil had kobe on a weird leash, and kobe responded in kind.
and PS, can we PLEASE begin to refer to reggie evans as 'WEDGIE evans'. it would make my life.
hold on. what happened in gm 3 and gm 4 was most beautiful bball ive seen in a long time. it nearly made me cry. (i didnt watch gm2). even gm1 was great.
in my opinion kobe behaved like little kid. like when they sub you in, and you chear for the other team. i think he'll regret this. and i think none ever told him dont shoot at all. i am positive. there is shoot like a mf, never shoot. and then there is shoot when we really need a basket, or when you are open, otherwise make your teams better that he was doing well in games i mentioned. and that is real hard to do appereantly. but what he did there... was just a pathetic kid. fuck him.
What now? Am I the only person NOT salivating all over Kobe Bryant? I think the ABC/TNT guys did enough of that on TV. Dudes, this is not the Kobe-show.
LETS GO PHEONIX! Instead of boy-wonder in Los Angeles, I would take Nash-Marion-Barbosa-Thomas-Diaw & Co. playing real team bball anyday.
i think you're mistaking 'discussion of kobe' for 'love of kobe'. believe me, TOTALLY different things.
kobe is my favorite guy to hate, because he's so good. he's my villain. the heartbreaker.
the suns are fantastic. d'antoni is a legend. nash re-energized the game (and welcome chris paul and ray felton!), the matrix is the greatest 'unknown' player in the league, and boris diaw changed the way people view 'centre'.
but saying that kobe is an incredible baller isn't knocking anyone else. or is it saying kobe's your boy or anything like that. it's just talking.
that said, i LOVE elton brand, and if the clipshow can beat phoenix, i'd love it.
either way, the clips or the suns in the western conference finals! how freaking GOLD is that?!??
I found an error in ur script swift...
hahah.. for real, Kobe gave up, the team gave what they had, and it was not anywhere near enough.
On another note... the poor poor Labron's... I'll tell you what we are gonna be a witness to... A SWEEEEEEEEEP
Please, fill me in on the error in my script, Anonymous... I'm pretty knew to this whole webpage biznass.
Also, if you're thinking sweep... you're not alone. Personally, I'd like to see LBJ + co. steal a game (hey, if Detroit will give one away to Milwaukee, why not to the Cavs? Everyone's got a cruise control deep down).
But if you want to read a GREAT article ABOUT Lebron, written by none other than Scoop Jackson (and I suggest you do), check this:
